Petition Guidelines
Information about the petitioning process can be found in the Elections Bylaws document. Candidates may print and use the petition form linked on the right side of this page to collect signatures in-person, or they can collect digital signatures through Microsoft Forms. Below is a link to the Digital Petition Guidelines and a step-by-step tutorial for how to create a secure digital petition form.

Steps for creating a secure digital petition
Information Sessions
All candidates for elected positions must attend an information session in order to be eligible to run. All 2025 information sessions will held virtually via Zoom on the following dates (Zoom links to be added as each date approaches):
- Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 7:00pm
- Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 7:00pm
- Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 7:00pm

Important Dates & Deadlines

Tuesday, AUGUST 26th, 2025: Candidates may start collecting petition signatures (FDOC)

Friday, SEPTEMBER 5th, 2025: Signatures are due back to the Judicial Panel

Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 10th, 2025: Last day for the Judicial Panel to confirm signatures and let candidates know if they’re on the ballot

Thursday, SEPTEMBER 11th, 2025: Campaigning begins

Voting System Access for Students
If you are an enrolled undergraduate student and you are unable to access the voting system due an error, please email usgelections@osu.edu before the end of the specified voting period. Include your first and last name, dot number, college, the candidates you wish to vote for, and a screenshot of the error you encountered when trying to access the voting system. Candidate names must match the spelling that appears on the official Election Ballot or correctly spell the name of the write-in candidate.
If you are an international student currently located outside of the United States and you are unable to access the voting system due to internet restrictions in your country, please email usgelections@osu.edu before the end of the specified voting period. Include your first and last name, dot number, college, the candidates you wish to vote for, and a screenshot of the error you encountered when trying to access the voting system. Candidate names must match the spelling that appears on the official Election Ballot or correctly spell the name of the write-in candidate.
