USG Passes Resolution to Create Leadership Minor
Senate passed a resolution urging the Office of Academic Affairs to create a leadership minor. The resolution stipulates that the minor be available to all undergraduate students and apply to all majors. USG is also asking that the minor entail a rigorous core curriculum, in which students can learn about leadership theories and gain hands-on experience through involvement in student organizations. These classes would also be given distinction through the Office of the Registrar.
Vice Provosts Randy Smith and Martha Garland of the Office of Academic Affairs have expressed interest in a leadership minor. A summit of colleges convened autumn quarter to determine how to accomplish this. However, the meeting did not include a formal course of action, compelling USG to pass this resolution.
